The Bird & The Beat

Finally got around to listening to the amazing lp “The Bird & The Beat” by the much touted Munk. I’ve been a huge fan of his singles but it always takes me a while listen to full albums. I shouldn’t be surprised at the top shelf creative stats on this album, it’s Munk afterall, but the goofy and asque moments on the album are awesome. This isn’t just “indie” or “disco” or something like that, it’s a lot more quirk and a lot more fun. See what i mean….

Munk – Violent Love

Jump Jump Dance Dance x Fare Soldi

LA based duo Jump Jump Dance Dance recently got the business from the always spot on Fare Soldi. Following the success of singles like “Show Me The Night” and “Modern Eyes”, the band is set to unleash “2.0″ a stellar jam that, honestly, I’ve never heard the original of but have doubt it’s gonna be big. Grab Soldi’s Zonpa Zonpa remix below and for some more kick check out the mix Laid Back Luke did as well!

Bullmeister

BULLMEISTER EPK 2010 (shortversion) from daniel eisenlohr on Vimeo.

Great new band from Berlin made up of Daniboi, Sam and Costa. They cite Phoenix, Goose and Fenech Soler as influences (you really can’t go wrong) and if anything in this video is to go by they are doing them justice. This promo vid came out a while back but I haven’t heard any of their stuff except what’s on their Gold EP and the track below, hopin they’ve got some goods on the way!

Bullmeister – It’s Okay (Gooseflesh Remix)

New Tensnake

Don’t know what we all did to deserve this but hey, I’m sure as hell not bitin the hand! House legend Tensnake has been working on a (now untitled?) new track and it looks like when he tried to send a draft of it to a bud he let it loose to us all on SoundCloud! I can’t post up the track but here is the link to the song, hope he keeps it up for all us shabby fans! i’m feinding over his old school house sounds, this one might be his best yet!

Udon

At long last mates, its here. The High Powered Boys (two of my all time fav french house maisters Surkin and Bobmo) have released their new single and its a grade a pop tart. It’s got way more womp than some of their older tech/house jams and definitely sounds proper and modern. There’s no trend following here though, this is the real deal. Released on super label Sound Pelligrino, it’s in prime position as the northern hemisphere gets ready for the festival life. Soak it up on the loud speakers, only place it belongs! Snag the whole ep here for the nasty bside “Work”

Shiners

Sometimes songs just pile up and turn into a giant pile of laundry in the corner. Clean that shit up and it looks great, leave it there and it just gather dust. It’s about time I dust off some real disco shiners and share them round. New and old, yes, but no Hi-NRG bs or a 2 second disco loop on repeat. These are some serious gems by some of the best. I never really drop these in sets which sucks, so the least I can do is share some with you!

Bottin – Sage Oil

Rodion, Golden Bug – Do The Washing Machine feat. Lavinia Claws (The C90s Remix)

Coupons – Driving to Your House Party [Jad Lee & The Ladyboy Remix]

Bag Raiders – Sunlight (Tiedye Remix)

The Dead Rose Movement – Just A Bitter Love

I Follow Rivers

Lykke Li – I Follow Rivers (Director: Tarik Saleh) from Lykke Li on Vimeo.

Now for a little winter sundown. There is no one better than Sweden’s Lykke Li, none in the world. Her new album “Wounded Rhymes” is one of my favorite so far this year and this video for her latest single “I Follow Rivers” is stellar too. cheers
