EP i’ve been overplaying for the past few weeks, if you haven’t heard it, it’s courtesy of Cut Copy bassist Ben Browning and it’s the best summer jam i’ve heard for these LA winter months!
It’s funny what happens when you put the blinders on, you simultainously give yourself a much needed respite while also preventing your own discovery of amazing new sounds! yurp, i’ve been on vacation, digging through the back catalogs and not too much on the front end and am now catching up. There’s a redesign IN PROGRESS (it’ll get better dont fret…), some new ideas i’m turning over and plenty of amazing new sounds.
I’ve also been doing a bit of writing for an amazing site me and some friends have put together titled MindTai. It’s a collective of artists, producers, skate rats, surfers and friends posting up literally whatever they want, always with rye grin and good laugh.
Back to JYK! After rambling about my lack of tunes, I bring an artist I missed out on first time round but am completely hooked on now. Bet you will be too. It’s courtesy of the US based AmTrac and his track “Fear”. Pumping deep sounds with the energy of many other genres thrown in!. I’ll toss in a bonus too, AmTrac’s “Came Along” remixed by Melbournite Oskar. It’s disco mixing deep disco, sonic and tropic all the way out and fucking good…

The Shack are Guy Williams and Dan Williams (not related). Both have been active in dance music from the early 90’s ,Guy holding DJ residencies at clubs such as the Ministry Of Sound , Turnmills , Vague and many more plus touring the world taking in the USA, Japan, Thailand, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Poland, Russia and South America.
Dan Williams aka D.R.W carved his career in the music industry as a singer/songwriter learning instruments from an early age. Dan’s musical knowledge and dance floor know how, as a DJ, has taken him around the globe playing alongside 2many DJs and The Glimmers. He has also played at club nights including Caligula, Black Rabbit, Le Baron and holds downs a residency at Pacha with club night Jezebel.
After much clambering from countless fans awaiting some sort of release date for Perseus’s stellar ep, he and his label French Express have given us a seriously fat present by treating us to whole thing for free! now! right here! take a listen!
Was lucky enough to find a real treat in my inbox last week, the debut release for Body Work records. It sees producers CSY & Stripes also step up to release their first original material, following hot on the heels of their recent acclaimed remixes for the likes of Penguin Prison and Icona Pop.
The two debut tracks are for heavy soundsystems only, the way that Hot Creations bass just has to be heard really thumping to feel quite right.
Two of the most exciting new producers around, it’s been a busy year for CSY & Stripes with several more big name remixes lined up for 2012, and a follow up EP to ‘Footsie’ already in the pipeline. expect to hear a lot more from this pair going forward.
For now enjoy the two samples the label has made public and be sure to swoop up the record when its released 2/6

Oxford from Toulouse, France is a producer that has shown a serious crack addition for stellar melodies and full synths, something I haven’t been listening too much of lately and is seriously pleasing to the ear. Check out two originals below and a great remix he did for Yelle!
